How a digital detox made me a cover girl

Do you know the feeling?

When you decide to turn your phone off for the day, because you will mindfully enjoy a day of being disconnected from the world, hiking in beautiful nature, with a dear friend…and then you turn your phone back on at the end of the day and there…you haven’t missed much. Must do that more often. It feels so good, this digital detox.

However – Today wasn’t like that for me at all. I did put my phone on flight mode, so I was still able to take photos without being connected to the digital world. I enjoyed a beautiful day in the remote snowy hills of the Trossachs National Park with my friend Clem, founder of Scapa Fest.

However, when I turned my phone on later, it wouldn’t stop buzzing…my ecstatic swimming smile made it onto the front page of the national front page of the Herald on Sunday. It came as a total surprise. Never would I have thought in a million years to end up a cover girl at nearly 40 years of age. Thanks to Anna Deacon’s beautiful photography and Vicky Allan’s great writing, wild swimming got such great media buzz and exposure, and will hopefully encourage many people to the joys of winter swimming!

Wild swimming is my escape from every day life. It is my microadventure, my daily dose of #vitaminsea.

On the WanderWomen trips I try and integrate wild swimming to show you what amazing effects it has on body and mind.

Give me a shout if you’d like to give it a go!
